Ian's critically acclaimed studio album, 'Great Things' is now available at gigs and via this website only. Here's what the critics have said.......
"Long-serving maverick on top pop form...undoubtedly his most accomplished and accessible work since 1994’s Mercury-nominated Head Like A Rock...a polished and expertly-played distillation of the music that’s fired McNabb’s imagination over the last 40-odd years...'This Love' is the kind of acoustic ballad McCartney can only dream about these days." (Tery Staunton, Record Collector).
A big THANK YOU to the 600 people who came from far and wide (Holland, Sweden, USA, Ipswich, London, Southampton, Glasgow, Fazakerley) to the two '50 songs' shows in Liverpool over the weekend. Judging by the standing ovation I'm sure you'll agree that they could well be amongst the best performances that Ian has ever given. It was a great way to end the year and Ian thanks you all from the bottom of his heart for making the weekend truly special.

A new review of the 'Great Things' album has appeared on the 'Scene Point Blank' website in the USA - thought you might like to read it.
Ian McNabb - Great Things
New solo record from the ex-Icicle Works frontman finds him stretching his wings creatively with spectacular results. Songwriting is the focus here, with guitar leads taking a back seat to the overall atmosphere of each song. For the most part, each song is given room to breathe (there's only one song under the 4-minute mark) and time to draw the listener into his world. “Great Things” is a cool mid-tempo tune with a chorus that soars out of the speakers. “Empires End” kicks in with some laid back upright bass courtesy of Roy Corkill and a Pink Floyd-like guitar riff that will definitely stay in your head for awhile. “Stormchaser” features some wild backwards guitar at the intro while McNabb sings “isn't it time you took a look at what's before you?/isn't it time you realize that there is someone out there/someone waitin' for you?” I could go on and on about all the songs on this record fairly easily, but it's safe to say that US music fans are missing out on a quality release here, which is a damn shame. Remember when you first heard Peter Gabriel's So, and it still sounds great now? Buy this and you will be saying that about Great Things years from now-guaranteed.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the first ever live performance by The Icicle Works, Ian will be firing up the troops for four full band shows in 2011 to mark this historic occasion. Don't miss your chance to hear these songs played as nature intended.
