I was dying from flu, but there was no way I was going to miss the great and legendary Ian. After a few medicinal drinks at the bar, I entered into the band venue with several thousand (or is that several) McNabb devotees. Ian came on stage to a huge round of applause. A lot of tacks from the new album were played and sounded great, particularly "Liverpool Girl" and "A Guy Like Me " (think this is right). Ian performed masterfully in spite of the small crowd. Tough shit to the tossers who missed out.
Second half was like a rebirth of old Icicle and solo stuff. It was brilliant. I could not believe my ears. "Love is a Wonderful Colour" sounded superb. At the end of the night, I still felt like shite but staggered home content with the sound of the master in my ears. Come back to Belfast soon, Ian. You are sorely missed. Cheers and thanks for a great night.
